A lot of people prefer to save money and dye their hair at home. Dyeing your hair is a great way to revamp your appearance and to look and feel younger.

But, if you decide to go to a local salon and get your hair dye on, it's going to cost you a considerable amount of money. If you have been dyeing your hair for a while now, you might already know which hair dye to buy, and how to put it on your head.

However, in most cases, you won't be able to dye your hair with the same perfection as a beautician would. For instance, you will have to do the whole thing while staring in the mirror and poring over the countertop.

As you might already know, putting hair dye in your hair is a lot of hassle, and regardless of how well you put it on, there's definitely going to be splatter on the countertops.

Countertops are a great addition to any bathroom, and will make it very easy for you to work on the surface. However, regardless of the material from which the countertops are made, you should know that these surfaces attract stains very quickly.

Removing stains from countertops is generally not that difficult; you can just take a piece of cloth, wet the area, and scrub hard on it to get it out. While this is a time-tested strategy, you should know that it doesn't always work.

For instance, if you get permanent hair dye on the surface, it's going to be incredibly difficult for you to remove by just scrubbing the surface. There are a number of different cleaning methods that you can use to get the hair dye off the countertops.

1 – Hydrogen Peroxide

One of the most potent chemicals that is used in almost all major cleaning substances available in the market is hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is incredibly robust and can get rid of the most stubborn stains for you. You can also find it easily in your local hardware store as well.

But, you should know that hydrogen peroxide can be harmful if it is not applied carefully. To remove a stain from the countertop using hydrogen peroxide, you need to first dab it using a cotton ball.

Then, instead of rubbing on the surface in a harsh manner, use a gentle approach. Rub the cotton ball in a circular manner on the stain to see if it comes out.

Within a few minutes, you will notice the stain losing its color, and it will eventually be removed.

2 – Buy a Surface Cleaner

There are a number of companies that manufacture surface cleaners that you will find in the market. These are designed for multipurpose use, and you can always find one that best fits your needs.

For instance, if you have bought a surface cleaner from the market to use, you need to first prepare the area.

Start off by wetting the stained surface, and then apply the cleaner on the surface. Instead of rubbing it out immediately, you should let it rest on the surface for a little while. Let the cleaner stand for at least a half hour before you get to work.

Take a scouring pad and then scrub the area in a gentle manner. In most cases, the stains are going to come up with just a little bit of scrubbing.

If the stains are stubborn and have been allowed to stand for a long while, it might require a few tries on your part before you can get it out.

3 – The Baking Soda Method

Most people already know about the amazing advantages of using baking soda for different cleaning purposes. Baking soda has become an incredibly popular choice for use in different cleaning applications, and you can always use it to get rid of hair dye stains on the countertops.

You are going to need at least three tablespoons of baking soda, a sponge, a nail polish remover that contains acetone, and you will need water and a spoon. A cotton ball will also be required for proper cleaning purposes.

Just add enough to create a thick paste, and not more. Then, you need to stir the paste carefully to get rid of any clumps that might form. Finally, you should apply this paste liberally on the stained area. Use a spoon to apply the paste instead of your fingers for a more even application.

You need to leave the paste on for at least a few minutes. You will notice that with the passage of time, the stain will dry out completely.

By the time the baking soda paste is removed, the stain will also be gone. If a faint mark still remains, you can use the nail polish remover to get rid of it.

Again, there's no need to use your fingers for this job: dip a cotton ball in the nail polish remover and apply it on the stain.

Let it rest for a few minutes before cleaning it off. The stain should be completely gone.

Removing Hair Dye Stains From Carpets

Removing the hair dye stains from carpets is going to be a bit more difficult, and it will require you to use a different strategy. You will need to mix two cups of warm water with one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Add a tablespoon of white vinegar in the mix as well.

Then, take a sponge and dip it in the mixture. Sponge the carpet carefully and blot the stains out until they begin to fade. Do not rub on the stains in the carpet, always use the blotting technique to get rid of the stains with ease.

If the stains haven't gone out completely, you might want to dip another sponge in a bowl of rubbing alcohol, and then reapply it.

Rubbing alcohol is a highly underrated household cleaner, and you can use it quite efficiently for cleaning different surfaces. If the stains still don't go away, you should add a bit of ammonia (one tablespoon) into the mixture, along with white vinegar and dishwashing liquid.

In some situations, a bit of hairspray might also be quite effective in removing the stains, especially if the stain is relatively new.
